About Bay Hill
Bay Hill is one of the best known names in Orlando, and a lot of that comes from the golf. The Bay Hill Club opened in 1961, Arnold Palmer bought it in the 1970s, and it has hosted the Arnold Palmer Invitational every March since 1979. The club is private, with 27 holes, a lodge, tennis, a spa and a marina.
What surprises a lot of people is that Bay Hill is really a group of neighborhoods around the club, each with its own feel. A few sections are gated, like Emerson Pointe, Isle of Osprey and Bay Hill Village. Much of the rest is open, with patrol paid for by the Bay Hill Property Owners Association.
The water is a big part of the story. Bay Hill touches Lake Tibet-Butler, Lake Chase and Lake Blanche, all part of the Butler Chain of Lakes. That's 13 connected lakes and more than 5,000 acres, and the chain is a designated Outstanding Florida Water. If you want to boat from your backyard in Orlando, this is one of the best places to do it.
Homes were built from the late 1960s right up to today. You'll see original homes on the fairways, villas and condos, and newer lakefront estates. That range is part of why people keep coming back to Bay Hill. There's more than one way in.
Restaurant Row on Sand Lake Road is a few minutes away, and I-4 and the theme parks are an easy drive.
